Under Armour Storm Recruit Backpack Review

UA Storm RecruitWhen looking for a new backpack, you want something rugged, versatile, comfortable and good looking.  Sometimes it feels like you have to give up one perk in order to get another.  With the Under Armour Storm Recruit, that is not the case.  The folks at UA have produced a bag that works just as well for the active businessman or workout bag for someone trying to get in shape.

The dimensions are 19″x13″x10″ and it features four exterior pockets.  The side pockets are large and deep, easily able to fit a drink bottle snugly without having it fall out while evading other commuters on the bus. Front pocket is weather resistant and zippers close to protect your cell phone, keys and wallet. Elastic holders on the front are a great place to slip pens and pencils.

Inside, it has a padded sleeve large enough to carry a 15″ laptop with still remaining space in the large compartment. Big enough to carry your books, boxed lunch or a change clothes, the owner of the backpack won’t have to decide what to leave behind.  Built with comfort in mind, the straps are padded and ventilated and are positioned so the bag settles correctly on your back to prevent fatigue.  The bottom has skid-proof protection, ready to be dropped on the ground in busy school hallways.

Finally, you want to have it look good. It’s available in fourteen color combinations; one for everyone in the market for a bag. Choose among black, grey, multi-color accents, red, fuscia, and a bright blue.  Even your skateboarding daughter will be able to find one to match her favorite top.

PROS:  Roomy, padded sleeve for computer, waterproof front pocket, deep side pockets, padded straps, rugged design

CONS: Some users have reported that is is not roomy enough on the inside, but I think that if you don’t load it down with excess books and electronics it should be fine.

Finally, you will want to consider cost. This is a mid-range prices bag, although you may find it for less if you shop around. While you are spending considerably more than you would at the big box bargain basement stores for a back-to-school special, Under Armour stands by their brand.  You will be buying a product that is designed to handle an active student or commuter lifestyle.

All in all, the Storm Recruit is a first-class bag with all the features you or your teen are looking for in a backpack
